Dr. McMillan has been a member of the Mayo Clinic staff since 1998 in multiple roles. Currently, she serves as an Advance Practice Provider in the Department of Clinical Genomics. Prior to starting in Clinical Genomics, she worked in Hematology/Oncology for 10 years, Clinical Nurse Educator and Charge Nurse/Team Leader in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit.
Dr. McMillan obtained her Family Nurse Practitioner Certification from the University of North Florida in 2009 and went on to obtain her Doctorate of Nursing in Family Practice with a Sub-specialty in Palliative Medicine in 2015. She is also the recipient of the Gerster Award which she used to complete her Genetics and Genomics Certificate, from Stanford University. She serves as a preceptor for medical students, fellows, physician assistant and nurse practitioner students at Mayo Clinic Florida School of Medicine. She is very active with the Florida Society of Clinical Oncology, serving on the Board as Vice-Chair for Education; and on the Board for the FLASCO Foundation. In her spare time, she works as an Adjuvant Instructor for the University of North Florida where she inspires and mentor’s future nurses.
