Dr. Ashley Ghiaseddin is a neuro-oncologist and the chief of the division of neuro-oncology in the University of Florida’s Department of Neurosurgery. He specializes in the treatment of brain cancer, utilizing targeted approaches such as chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and precision medicine for patients with malignant brain tumors, including glioblastoma.
Dr. Ghiaseddin earned his bachelor’s degree in science and business from the University of Notre Dame and obtained his medical degree from the University of Toledo. He completed his residency at Indiana University, followed by a neuro-oncology fellowship at Duke University.
As a member of the Preston A. Wells Jr. Center for Brain Tumor Therapy, Dr. Ghiaseddin collaborates with an interdisciplinary team of experts dedicated to providing patient-centered care and advancing treatment options for brain tumors.
Beyond patient care, he conducts research on novel immunotherapy approaches to improve outcomes for brain cancer patients. His research interests also include population-based studies on glioblastoma and exploring ways to enhance the quality of life for both patients and caregivers.
Dr. Ghiaseddin is a leader in the neuro-oncology section of the American Academy of Neurology and is an active member of the Society for Neuro-Oncology and the American Society of Clinical Oncology.
He remains deeply involved in clinical trials, frequently authoring manuscripts and leading large investigator-initiated studies. Currently, he serves as the principal investigator for multiple ongoing trials.The conditions he focuses on treating include glioblastoma, astrocytoma, oligodendroglioma, CNS lymphoma, ependymoma, neurocytoma, and meningioma.
In his free time, Dr. Ghiaseddin enjoys spending time with his family, walking, traveling, and exploring Florida.
