Tampa, FL – August 7, 2017…The Suncoast chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) recently announced the appointment of Shelly Glenn, Chief Marketing & Sales Officer for Florida Cancer Specialists (FCS), as Chair of the Board of Trustees.  With a mission to find cures and ensure access to treatments for blood cancer patients, the chapter serves patients in Charlotte, Citrus, Collier, Desota, Hardee, Hernando, Hillsborough, Lee, Manatee, Pasco, Pinellas and Sarasota counties.

Suncoast LLS Executive Director Sherri Stitt said, “Shelly has been a constant source of encouragement and leadership for the Suncoast Chapter.  In 2014, she was named Woman of the Year and that same year she joined the Board of Trustees.  Every year since, Shelly has recruited candidates for Man/Woman of the Year and helped us raise critically-needed funds for blood cancer patients.  In 2015 – 2017, she was appointed Chair of the Suncoast Chapter Leadership Team of Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Man and Woman of the Year initiatives. She is a dynamic and inspirational leader and we are grateful for her support.”

FCS CEO Brad Prechtl, who also serves on several non-profit boards and chairs the Florida Cancer Specialists Foundation board and the Florida chapter of CEOs Against Cancer, said, “Shelly is a great example of how many of our FCS leaders and employees go the extra mile to support not only our patients, but all cancer patients in Florida.  LLS is also a tremendous partner to Florida Cancer Specialists, both in patient services and in advancing research to find cures for blood cancers.”

Shelly joined Florida Cancer Specialists in 2012 and was named Chief Marketing & Sales Officer for the practice in October 2013. Dedicated to increasing awareness and education, because of friends and family who have battled cancer, Shelly devotes much of her time to organizations that provide various types of support for cancer patients and their families.  She currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Florida Cancer Specialists Foundation, Jack & Jill Late Stage Cancer Foundation, and as the Chair of the Marketing & Communications Committee for the Florida Society of Clinical Oncology (FLASCO). In 2013, she was Co-Chair of American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer in Sarasota/Manatee counties.

On her new role as Board Chair, Shelly commented, “LLS is the leading source of support for blood cancer patients and I feel privileged to be a part of this organization. I want to help ensure that patients continue to have a fighting chance, because of the monies we raise and programs provide help to fund clinical trials, patient services and education, as well as increasing awareness throughout the community.”
