Florida Cancer Specialists Announces Senior Management Promotions

Fort Myers, FL – December 22, 2015 . . . Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute (FCS), the leading community oncology/hematology practice in the state, is pleased to announce the promotions of three senior leaders in the organization. Michael Essik has been promoted to Vice President of Finance; Inga Gonzalez has been named as Senior Regional Director in Central Florida; Jeff Rubin assumes responsibilities as Vice President of Practice Operations.

Inga Gonzalez, who joined FCS in 2011, and Michael Essik, who came to FCS in 2013, have likewise shown great skill in executing numerous programs that have driven innovation and helped to navigate the many changes in our industry.  These three leaders are highly-regarded and valued members of our Senior Management Team.”

As Vice President of Finance, Michael Essik oversees the analytical support provided to all levels of management throughout the organization. In addition to heading up the analysis of existing operations, Michael works with prospective FCS partner physicians to facilitate the transition from individual and group practice to affiliation with FCS. Since joining FCS in 2013, more than fifty physicians have made this transition. His over 25 years of prior experience includes progressive financial roles with McKesson and Cardinal Health, the Timken Company and, most recently, with the acquisition and management of charter schools throughout the southeastern U.S. Originally from Ohio, Michael earned his bachelor’s degrees in finance, business and education from Walsh University and his MBA from Ashland University. He is also certified as a Six Sigma Green Belt. Michael is an avid cyclist and enjoys performing live music with his wife Julie.

Inga Gonzalez is the Senior Regional Director in Central Florida and oversees the daily operations and functions of the clinical locations in Orange, Seminole, Volusia, Flagler, Lake and Sumter Counties. Inga joined FCS in 2011, as the result of a merger with Florida Hematology & Oncology Specialists and Lake County Oncology & Hematology. She had been Practice Manager for these practices since 2009. Originally from Brooklyn, New York, Inga entered the medical field in 1998 when she founded a medical billing and collections firm. After moving to Orlando in 2005, Inga became the Clinic Manager for a pain management clinic. She subsequently became the Manager of Patient Services for the Florida Heart Group, where she developed physician protocols and optimized patient flow for 16 physicians and 2 nurse practitioners. Inga is fluent in Russian and enjoys spending time with her family and traveling.

Jeffrey Rubin is Florida Cancer Specialists’ Vice President of Practice Operations for Pinellas, Pasco, Hernando, Citrus, Alachua and Leon counties in Florida, for which he oversees the daily operations and functions of the clinical locations within these areas. Before becoming Vice President of Practice Operations in 2015, Rubin was Senior Regional Director or those counties clinics, supervising and coordinating personnel in FCS’ clerical, nursing, laboratory and pharmacy with responsibilities for all on-site operations. Jeff has been with FCS since 2003 when he joined Oncology Physicians as Pharmacy Manager, and was promoted to HR Manager for the company, supervising radiology and radiation personnel. Jeff began his career in the pharmaceutical field as a Sales Manager and Certified Pharmacy Technician at Tarpon Plaza Drugs in Tarpon Springs for seven years. Jeff graduated from the University of South Florida in 2004 with a bachelor’s degree in biomedical science. Jeff is an avid scuba diver who enjoys spending time with his family.
