Purpose

Description of Initiative: The clinical navigator is a role that has been identified by payers, physicians, institutions and practices as a critical extension of the clinical team. Despite the understood variation in responsibilities, there is a need to partner with these clinicians to understand their needs and provide education, resources and access to on- going support that will maximize their positive impact on patient outcomes, care and other pre -defined objectives.

Background: In early 2017, a survey was developed and implemented that captured a tangible need that could be met through the Amgen/FLASCO partnership. FLASCO has developed a team of nurse navigators that will work closely with Amgen to develop strategies to fill the gaps that were discovered through the survey.

Rationale: Amgen is willing to design and fund education, tools and resources for Navigators who play a key role in delivering quality care to oncology patients.

Purpose: To maximize a partnership between FLASCO and industry to provide non-branded patient education and resources to oncology nurse navigators and other interested oncology nurses throughout the State of Florida.
