On Saturday, October 17, NCCN will introduce its Value Initiative: Using NCCN Evidence Blocks™ in Clinical Decisions at a lunch symposium. The NCCN Evidence Blocks™ are a valuable tool intended as a visual representation of five key measures that provide important information about specific recommendations contained within the NCCN Clinical Practice Guidelines in Oncology (NCCN Guidelines®):
- Efficacy
- Safety
- Quality and quantity of evidence
- Consistency of evidence
- Affordability
The goal of the NCCN Evidence Blocks™ is to provide the health care provider and the patient information to make informed choices when selecting systemic therapies based upon measures related to treatment, supporting data, and cost. These measures may be used to understand the clinical and scientific rationale for specific recommendations and estimates of the economic impact of the recommendations. Additionally, they may be used to educate providers and patients, and to be a starting point for shared decision-making considering the patient’s own value system.
This educational session will feature the NCCN Guidelines® for Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia with NCCN Evidence Blocks™ and will take place October 17, from 11:45 AM to 1:00 PM. This session is open to all congress attendees; pre-registration is not required. CME/CNE/CPE is available.
